The Women’s game is set to reach new heights tonight when the Women’s Super League Grand Final is shown live on Sky Sports in the UK, Fox Sports in Australia, Bein Sports in France and is simultaneously streamed globally via Twitch.
This is the first time the Woman’s Grand Final will be televised and highlights how far the game has grown over the last 12 months.
One of the great stories behind tonight’s match is that of Leeds Rhinos’ captain Courtney Hill. Two years ago Courtney was a professional Women’s cricketer in Australia. She joined the Leeds Rhinos last season at the age of 30 after moving to the UK with her partner and had not played Rugby since the age of 12. Now she’s the current 2019 Woman of Steel and is about to lead the Rhino’s out in a Grand Final in front of a record crowd in St Helens.
This shows the opportunities that are available in the women’s game and how its never too late to give it a try and potentially end up representing Wales or playing in a Grand Final.
