12 Days of Christmas 9

There’s just 4 days left in our countdown to Christmas and today we are focusing on the future of Rugby League in Wales by looking at the up and coming young stars.

๐ŸŽ„ The future of Rugby League looks bright with some really talented young stars coming up through the age grades. Today we are looking at the U19 Wales team and the Outlaws involvement with it.

Wales U19 played England Lions U19 on Saturday 16th September 2017 at the Centre for Sporting Excellence, Ystrad Mynach. Despite the club only being around a short time we had 5 players selected for that match.

Unfortunately Wales lost 42-24 that day to a very strong English side. A highlight for us though was seeing our young men’s first team centre, Nye Walker getting in for a try.

2018 saw the U19s head out to Serbia to take part in the RLEF European Youth Championships. Wales eventually finished 3rd in the competition.

They beat Ukraine by a record breaking 90-0 in the opening match in which Nye Walker again got over for a try. The following game saw them come up against the English Lions and they lost 48-6. They won the final game against Scotland 42-18 with both Macauley Harris and Cobi Green getting over for a try.

Wales U19 played the English Lions again later in 2018, this time at Manchester Regional Arena. Again the English proved too strong with Wales going down 44-6.

In 2019 Wales U19 played 4 matches, winning 2 against Ireland (both home and away) and losing two to England Lions and England Academy.
